Michael Innes

Michael Innes is a pen name for John Innes Mackintosh Stewart (b. 1906, d. 12 November 1994).

Stewart was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and was educated at Edinburgh Academy and Oriel College, Oxford. Subsequently, he taught English at numerous universites around the world; he was a lecturer in English at the University of Leeds from 1930 to 1935, Jury Professor of English at the University of Adelaide, South Australia from 1935 to 1945, and a lecturer at Queen's University, Belfast from 1946 to 1948. From 1949 until retirement in 1973, he was a Student (that is, a Fellow) of Christ Church, Oxford.

Michael Innes Omnibus Editions

In the 1980s, Penguin Books published a series of Michael Innes Omnibus editions in paperback, each containing three full length Innes novels.
